Even though Rep. Pat Tiberi, a Republican from suburban Columbus, will seek re-election this year, he asked a Republican firm in suburban Washington to conduct a statewide poll last fall as he considers the possibility of running for statewide office in the future.
According to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission, Tiberi’s campaign paid $38,500 to Public Opinion Strategies – a well-known Republican firm – to conduct the poll.
A Republican who is close to Tiberi said, “Pat always runs into people who are asking him to look at statewide opportunities. He owes it to himself to explore that. But nothing is imminent.”
