“Mr. Vice President”

Jack Torry of our Washington Bureau stumbled on this amusing anecdote today.

With speculation circulating that U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, could be a potential vice presidential choice for the eventual Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. Rob Portman has taken to calling Brown “Mr. Vice President” when he sees him.

Portman, R-Ohio, who was considered as a potential running mate in 2012 to Republican nominee Mitt Romney, told reporters on a conference call today he is sure Brown “knows how to handle” reports of being vice president “and doesn’t need any of my advice,” before adding, “I have joked with him a little about it.”
